Hot Ham Water

Well...not exactly, more like deliciously salted, smoked, aged PORK!  So, this isn't exactly a "Pittsburgh post" but hey- it is something significant that has happened recently- so I figured, why not?  And who doesn't like a good ham, I mean...really.

So as many of you know,Van LOVES ham, maybe almost as much as he loves me and he recently mail ordered his SECOND Tennessee Country hickory smoked ham from Benton's Smoky Mountain Country Hams.  Yes, I know you are curious, so click here for the website. We received our 15 lb. 14 month old ham on Friday evening via UPS.  It comes in a box like this:**side note And since Van wasn't home yet- guess who had to carry it up to the third floor?

Then, once the box is opened the ham is wrapped and looks like this: Oh yeah, Van also ordered 4 packs of bacon.  Count 'em.

Ok, now I obviously have to share some photos of what the actual 14 month aged ham looks like:

So much smoky and salty deliciousness!

Van's pride and joy- to date we have made: Ham Soup, Breakfast sandwiches, Quesadillas and Grilled Cheese all incorporating our delicious new ham- and yes, we got one last year too! Anyone want some? Call me!
