Historical Home Additions

Van's parents recently sent us their Eames chair for our new condo.  It was in Van's old room in their house, and wasn't used very often in this new space since it didn't match their new house decor.  And because we love mid-century modern, they gave it to us!  It was delivered last week, and we love it.  Right now it is in our office, but when we move into a house- it will definitely be displayed more prominently in the living quarters.

A bit of history through photos of the chair- below is Van's dad, Mark, holding baby Van in the chair, (with their old Springer, Paws in the background).  I love my father in law's beard and mustache!  Apparently this chair worked wonders for rocking babies to sleep.

Another photo of Baby Van enjoying the chair at an early age.  Passed out.  Love this one.

Finally-here is the chair now, definitely well loved and definitely in need of new upholstering- but completely classic.

I'm in love, and feel so grateful that Van's parents gifted us with this beautiful piece of furniture.  Thank you Shelley and Mark!
Also, in this same shipment- they sent us one of Van's dads' paintings.  We hung it over the fireplace in the living room- the colors are beautiful and really complement all of the light in the room.

We are looking forward to having this chair and the painting for a very long time.  Maybe someday Van will even rock his child in it? Ahhhhhhh... (Years from now- I wasn't hinting at anything people.)

Wedding Bellz and Pix

So, we recently received 3 DVD's of professional wedding photos back from our amazing friend and photographer, Jacob Rushing.  It is utterly amazing to look through the photos and literally be able to relive our wedding day, 06.09.12.  I have so many emotions when I look through the photos, some of them make my heart hurt and I wish we could relive the day, just because it was so perfect for us.  Others make me laugh, because there were a lot of hilarious moments, and others just fill me with this insane joy.  At the risk of sounding cheesy, I can honestly say that my wedding day was the happiest day of my life.  Van and I have literally grown up from young 23- year olds to (mature-ish?) 28/29 year olds.  Time flies when you're having fun.

So as I mentioned there are 3 full DVD's of photos, and honestly I have only looked through Discs 1 and 2.  However, I love the photos!  It is a bit overwhelming though, going through THOUSANDS of photos.

A few of you have asked to see additional wedding photos, and I do plan on making a Facebook album with some of my favorites, but for now, just to tide you over- here are a few of my favorites so far.

Van Morgan and Megan Keller- married 06.09.12 at The Hacienda in Santa Ana, CA.  Mexican food, my brother's jazz band, friends, family, sun, Stone IPA...perfect.
Below is the wedding party and our officiant/bestie Matt Mihm, going in for our first kiss and my beautiful flowers.  I think I can dedicate my next entire blog to the flowers. :)

After the ceremony, some of my favorite family shots.

Then some of my favorites from the toasts and my brother's jazz band that played during cocktail hour.  The band is available for hire, so if you're in SoCal and need an amazing jazz quartet to play an event, holla!

Once again thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who was able to celebrate with us on that very special day.  We had a blast!  I'm sure that I will have another wedding blog with photos Part II and maybe event Parts III and IV.  I have A LOT of photos to go through and I'm sure that I will love many, many, more.

Smokin' Meat.

I love some delicious Korean BBQ, luckily for me LA's Korea Town is literally down the street from me.  Thank you Vermont!  East side, what?!  My favorite Korean BBQ spot is definitely Park's BBQ.  The restaurant has a solid, modern vibe and it's a little pricey, but the meat selection is by far the best quality.  The banchan selection is amazing too.  Banchan refers to the little plates of appetizers that are served along with the meat in Korean BBQ restaurants.

We were having dinner with my parents last Friday, and wanted to take them to Korean BBQ, but didn't want quite as fancy a restaurant as Park's- so we chose to go with the smokier, more rustic, Soot Bull Jeep.
It doesn't look like much from the outside, but I never let the exterior of a restaurant deter me from going for it.

Van had been here once before and warned us that we will come out of the restaurant smelling like BBQ smoke.  Ha. Loved it.
Unfortunately my poor Dad was the one who got the most smoked out...smoke follows beauty, right?
Below are my lovely parents- celebrating their 34th wedding anniversary today. <3
Delicious banchan selection and cooking proteins: we chose short ribs, squid and pork!

My favorite was probably the short ribs- but the squid was a close second.
Happy M and confused V.
Delicious.  Definitely experienced a meat-coma afterwards, but so worth it, once in a while.  Seriously, I'm so close to Korea Town- I'm always down for BBQ.
